Business Systems Analysis

Analyzing existing business systems and processes, and user interaction with those systems and processes, inefficiencies can be identified and addressed to help reduce the costs associated with operating a business. In may cases, inefficient systems and processes waste employee time, which is simple to convert to an undesired expense. However, many inefficiencies can be nested into a complex system or process and may have a compound effect over time.

A common problem with old business processes is that they are simply part of a daily routine. Few people question why anything is done a certain way because it has always just functioned that way. Although such processes were implemented for a good reason, they may no longer be effective or even be required in the current business environment. For this reason, time-consuming processes and their dependencies must be reverse-engineered to determine their function, priority, value, and cost to business operation.

After the systems and processes of a business have been identified, mapped, and dissected, new processes can be devised to more efficiently integrate this knowledge into a more efficient business system.

After initial investigation and analysis of an existing business operation, I can make recommendations to streamline business processes in regard to stored and processed data. Obsolete data storage systems and techniques can be migrated to modern, structured systems that are easier to use, disaster resistant, less difficult to manage, and more useful to the business. In many cases, the systems can be simplified to a point where non-technical personnel can securely access and manage a company's data and reporting needs.

Hosted/Cloud solutions may provide an attractive alternative to perpetual licensing and maintenance of on-premises systems by way of subscription-based licensing, greatly reducing long-term costs and increasing business productivity.
